In 7th grade, I took an SAT test without preparing for it at all, it was spur-of-the-moment, I knew about it about an hour ahead of time and didn't do any research or anything. I scored higher on it than the average person using it to apply for college in my area.

An IQ test has shown me to be in the 99.9th percentile for IQ. This is the highest result the test I was given reaches; anything further and they'd consider it to be within the margin of error for that test.

My mother's boyfriend of 8 years is an aerospace engineer who graduated Virginia Tech. At the age of 15, I understand physics better than him, and I owe very little of it to him, as he would rarely give me a decent explanation of anything, just tell me that my ideas were wrong and become aggravated with me for not quite understanding thermodynamics. He's not particularly successful as an engineer, but I've met lots of other engineers who aren't as good as me at physics, so I'm guessing that's not just a result of him being bad at it.

Anonymous said...

I'm also pretty good at engineering. I don't have a degree, and other than physics I don't have a better understanding of any aspect of engineering than any actual engineer, but I have lots of ingenuity for inventing new things. For example, I independently invented regenerative brakes before finding out what they were, and I was only seven or eight years old when I started inventing wireless electricity solutions (my first idea being to use a powerful infrared laser to transmit energy; admittedly not the best plan).

Anonymous said...

I have independently thought of basically every branch of philosophy I've come across. Every question of existentialism which I've seen discussed in anywhere else, the thoughts haven't been new to me. Philosophy has pretty much gotten trivial for me; I've considered taking a philosophy course just to see how easy it is.

Psychology, I actually understand better than people with degrees. Unlike engineering, there's no aspect of psychology which I don't have a very good understanding of. I can debunk many of even Sigmund Freud's theories.

I'm a good enough writer that I'm writing a book and so far everybody who's read any of it has said it was really good and plausible to expect to have published. And that's not just, like, me and family members, that counts strangers on the Internet. I've heard zero negative appraisal of it so far; people have critiqued it, but not insulted it.

I don't know if that will suffice as evidence that I'm intelligent. I'm done with it, though, because I'd rather defend my maturity, since it's what you've spent the most time attacking. The following are some examples of my morals and ethical code.

Anonymous said...

I believe firmly that everybody deserves a future. If we were to capture Hitler at the end of WWII, I would be against executing him. In fact, if we had any way of rehabilitating him and knowing that he wasn't just faking it, I'd even support the concept of letting him go free. This is essentially because I think that whoever you are in the present is a separate entity from who you were in the past and who you are in the future, and while your present self should take responsibility for your past self's actions, it shouldn't be punished for them simply for the sake of punishment, especially if the present self regrets the actions of the past self and feels genuine guilt about them.

I don't believe in judgement of people based on their personal choices as long as those personal choices aren't harming others. I don't have any issue with any type of sexuality whatsoever (short of physically acting out necrophilia, pedophilia, or other acts which have a harmful affect on others - but I don't care what a person's fantasies consist of, as long as they recognize the difference between reality and fiction and can separate them). I don't have any issue with anybody over what type of music they listen to, or clothes they wear, etc. I know that's not really an impressive moral, but it's unfortunately rare; a great many people, especially those my age, are judgmental about these things.

Anonymous said...

I love everyone, even people I hate. I wish my worst enemies good fortune and happiness. Rick Perry is a vile, piece of shit human being, deserving of zero respect, but I wish for him to change for the better and live the best life possible. I wish this for everyone.

I'm pretty much a pacifist. I've taken a broken nose without fighting back or seeking retribution, because the guy stopped punching after that. The only time I'll fight back is if 1) the person attacking me shows no signs of stopping and 2) if I don't attack, I'll come out worse than the other person will if I do. In other words, if fighting someone is going to end up being more harmful to them than just letting them go will be to me, I don't fight back. I've therefore never had a reason to fight back against anyone in anything serious, because my ability to take pain has so far made it so that I'm never in a situation where I'll be worse off after a fight. If I'm not going to get any hospitalizing injuries, I really don't care.

Anonymous said...

The only exception is if someone is going after my life. Even then, I'll do the minimum amount of harm to them that I possibly can in protecting myself. If someone points a gun at me and I can get out of it without harming them, I'd prefer to do that over killing them.

I consider myself a feminist. I don't believe in enforced or uniform gender roles; they may happen naturally, but they should never be coerced into happening unnaturally. As in, the societal pressure for gender roles should really go, even if it'll turn out that the majority of relationships continue operating the same way of their own accord. I treat women with the same outlook I treat men, and never participate in the old Reddit "women are crazy" circlejerk, because there are multiple women out there and each have different personalities just like there are multiple men out there and each with different personalities. I don't think you do much of anything except scare off the awesome women out there by going on and on about the ones who aren't awesome.

Anonymous said...

That doesn't mean I look for places to victimize women, I just don't believe it's fair to make generalizations such as the one about women acting like everything's OK when it's really not (and that's a particularly harsh example, because all humans do that).

I'm kind of tired of citing these examples and I'm guessing you're getting tired of reading them, if you've even made it this far. In closing, the people who know me in real life all respect me, as do a great many people in the community, where I spend most of my time and where I'm pretty known for being helpful around the community. A lot of people in my segment of the community are depressed or going through hard times, and I spend a lot of time giving advice and support to people there. Yesterday someone quoted a case of me doing this in a post asking everyone what their favorite motivational/inspirational quote was, and that comment was second to the top, so I guess other people agreed (though, granted, it was a pretty low-traffic post, only about a dozen competing comments).

This is the culture in Malaysia, we tell our children to be honest, hard working, and stand up and do what is right even when it is the harder less popular decision. And seemingly everyone in a position of authority in society from school administrators, to local police, all the way on up to Dewan Rakyat politicians, are corrupt lying soulless creatures doing everything in their power to protect themselves and their vile ilk from the authority of the people who pay them. Maybe the principal would have done something, maybe he wouldn't have, but the important thing here, is that he did not want this young person to have any power over him or that teacher. We've got to do something about this issue Malaysia, it is pervasive, from our schools to our justice system to our white house, this is the default behaviour.

On the barren wasteland, sometimes if one is quite enough, he can hear distant laughter, muffled in with the sounds of quiet sobbing. Often this is only an auditory illusion, a play on the mind by the lonliness of the land, this time however, it is very real. A gathering of golums, covered in neckbeards and reeking of cringe, laugh into the night air. Amid them lies a fair maiden, sobbing quietly, her beauty only shadowed by the disgusting beasts surrounding her. The golums laugh and engage in their petty conversations, failing to realize whom they are in the presence of, art in human form. Hark! Off in the horizon, the sun rises. What!? No it cannot be for it is only in the dead of night that the golums assemble. The golums fear the sun for it burns and ravages their pale fragile bodies. Fortunately for them it is not the sun, unfortunately for the beasts, it is something far more pure, gleaming armor that lights up the waste and blinds the crusty eyes of the golums.

A white knight.

He dashes from his post, his stallion a streak of illuminating hope across the dark plains. The cowardly of the golums run, the foolish of them stay in his path, his sword makes quick work of them. Now, he is upon her, the light from his armor showing the maiden's true beauty. He reaches his hand down from his high horse, the maiden instinctively reaches for it. Once their hands make contact, even through the cold armor of his hands, she can feel his warmth warmth, the comfort of his soul, now she knows she's in good company. They both mount his horse, and ride off for a more civilized location the golums knows not of. And as the couple's gleaming light, now brighter than ever from their love, disappears over the horizon, the golums assemble once again, saddened, thinking; oh if only they had a fraction of the confidence that oozed out from the groves in the knight's armor. Alas, they cannot think for long as their small minds are soon captured by another petty occurance in the wasteland, and so continue their miserable lowly lives.

All spam sucks, but not all spam sucks equally. People who submit stuff that immediately gets voted down to 0 are a constant annoyance to the good users who watch the New queue, but they're a second priority for our spam-fighting efforts. If we spent our time going after them, we'd never have time to work on anything else ... and that includes automated spam-fighting tools that can greatly multiply our powers.

So, while you should still submit to RTS any spammer you find, regardless of how small-time or inept they may be, please do not send us private messages for run-of-the-mill spammers. I'm not saying we don't care about them -- we do, deeply -- but rather that our time is better spent programming mass-anti-spam measure than playing whack-a-mole with them one at a time. If you really want to help eradicate them, writing to us privately is counterproductive.

There are, however, certain spammers that we are very interested in hearing about. They are the ones that repeatedly seem to get a significant number of upvotes for their spam. These are the ones who may have found some way to circumvent our anti-cheating countermeasures. If you have evidence that a particular link, or an entire domain, is both spam and is getting lots of upvotes (presumably, illegitimately), please send me a message.

I'm not making a moral or integrity judgement, devedander, I'm making a value judgement. She came in here and accomplished power user status by submitting content she accurately determined Internet would like, while meeting an aggressive marketing agenda. All this while having public profiles of the same name describing exactly what she was doing. I'm in awe of the audacity. It's always a bitter pill to discover a sock puppet in your friend group, but she was actually doing all of this with her public persona. Despite this meltdown, she'll probably get a raise, isn't being booted as a Mod, and has suffered no real long term ill except MAYBE the loss of an established handle. I'd say it's win-win for her.

Well...sorta. They were quite slow with it. And they personally took $100,000 of the 200k donated to them, then had the gall to call themselves volunteers and solicit more donations. I was quite angry when I got the recent solicitation emails. They got that money last summer...if I were running that organization with that particular set of expenses (they've posted their spreadsheets), I could have made that last at least 2 years. In fact, I'm currently part of an organization that has lasted a year and a half on ~30k. Why? Because we host our own issue-tracking/dcvs services and don't charge the boss for all the time we could be.

Austin has had a serious problem with young groups of homeless kids lately because our local campsites aren't really equipped to handle homeless people "specially"

In other words, there aren't rules that specifically ban the homeless from being there if they pay the fee and have a tent. It's also hard to spot them when they call or sign in because ironically a lot of them have credit cards from their parents, pay-as-you-go cellphones and legit camping gear. It wouldn't be so bad, but these homeless are usually drug addict kids who leave the campsites looking like this. A lot of the kids in Austin we affectionaly call "drag rats" aren't really poor, just sort of...addicted and on the run and their parents pay for their lifestlye.

Anyways I don't know where I was going with this exactly. I guess it's just my way of saying it's not usually the typical camping type that leaves the sites like this...usually rednecks or vagrants who just wanted a place to sleep/party for a night.

Really just terrible how some people can be so selfish.

How are you getting work now?

I would say it's a bad idea, for a few reasons.

There's no guarantee you'll get any work. If you do get work and it pays well, you'll lose a large cut to the agency. Most of the time there rates don't change, if it's 10% at $500, it's probably still 10% at $5,000.

Think about that for a second, if you were to get $50,000 in work through the agency, you'd be paying them $5,000.

Agencies can get bad reps, because most of the people who sign up don't know the business of video editing, and don't know how to edit that well. They'll send these people out as "pros", and then the companies they work for stop using the agency. I stopped using a local talent agency because of this.

They don't always pay on time or quickly. Another local talent agency takes up to 90 days to pay talent. Sometimes they forget, or in reality, try not to pay the talent.

These are all things I've seen in my area, but then again not ever agency has these problems. Some of the agencies you've talked to might be great, but there's no way of telling. I would suggest you get in contact with other editors that work with them. Don't call them and ask, "Can I talk to one of the editors signed up with you?" because they'll send you to a paid reference, act as a business and ask for contact info for a handful and ask each one how it's working out.

My company was responsible for a valley that was about 22 kilometers long. When we took over, the government forces controlled the mouth of the valley, but the land just few kilometers past the mouth was in enemy hands. From the beginning, we heard that the Taliban were smuggling out “silk road artifacts” from an ancient temple. Multiple sources confirmed that they were making tens of thousands of dollars selling the artifacts in Pakistan. However, we were unable to push that deep into the valley without a major mission and unfortunately, our priorities focused us elsewhere. Later in the deployment, we had eroded away the Taliban resistance and were able to visit the site (as part of a bigger mission) and took these pictures. We tried to get the Afghan Government Antiquities Department involved in protecting the site, but they were unable to provide support until long-term security improved. When we left at the end of 2011, the enemy’s front line of influence was around the dig site and I was optimistic that security would improve enough to begin to protect the site or professionally excavate it. However, I have heard that in our draw down, many of the gains that our company made have been lost due to reduced force numbers. The Taliban is firmly in control of the site again. I can only assume that they are continuing to exploit it. Throughout the deployment, we spoke to a number of locals and government officials and tried to build a narrative of the site.

I can’t say if it is true or not, but from our understanding, a French team of archeologists discovered (or at least began excavating) the site shortly after the Taliban fell in 2001. The French worked the site until they were chased off when the Taliban re-emerged in the valley in 2007(ish). Some locals said that the archaeologists were shot, others were not sure. The Taliban actively excavated the site, and had armed guards around it from 2007 to 2009 when the first American Forces arrived in the valley. From that point, the Taliban didn’t want to waste resources guarding it and create a large signature around it. They scaled their operation back but still sent small groups to the site to dig when they were able.

I'm 22, I was rapping back in my freshman year of high school, I was terrible! I feel like I've gotten a lot better but! To the high schoolers, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BEING IN HIGH SCHOOL. When I was rapping in high school, people listened to my music all the time, despite it not being very good, they just thought it was cool that I did, I guess. Now that I'm older I find it more difficult to find a fan base, high school is the best for that. Also, especially to the high schoolers, I know how hard it can be to find someone who is willing to help you, I would be happy to mix your tracks, maybe even collab? Hit me with a PM if you need anything!

I could see this happening. The sole survivor, alone in an abandoned room as walkers close in. Knowing there's no escape he falls to his knees as images and memories of his loved ones flash before his eyes, first slowly, then picking up speed. Perhaps he scribbles one last message on the floor if he has something to write with for future people to find. Maybe it's something related to Genner saying how one day there will be a day when they're no longer grateful to be alive. He raises the gun slowly, knowing the end is near and pulls the trigger. A meaningless click is heard just before the doors break down and walkers are closing in on him. He'd almost willingly give himself to the walkers for it to be over. Falls into the oncoming mass.

Exactly. Like most tickets, they count on you not understanding the law and your rights and simply paying it.

You can absolutely beat these tickets in court. It's just that no one bothers. If we all fought our tickets, we'd be treated better. Up here in Quebec, way more (but not enough) people fight their tickets and it can take a year or two to even get a court date. By then, people don't remember things, tickets get thrown out, etc. But people fight them. So many people that it's breaking the system.

This is the kind of ticket that if people challenge, cops would not give out. And I think that's why you don't see lots of people pulled over/getting bullshit tickets in Quebec. It's why everyone rolls through 4-way stops with cops at the other side of the intersection: when you fight everything, cops reserve citations for actual serious.

Have you ever been to Mass? I think the average speed on a highway down there is 90. People everywhere are informed on the rules of the road (in fact, they have to pass two tests to be able to legally drive on them), they just stubbornly or ignorantly don't follow them.

Vermont has a lot of very treacherous rural highways and the lower state speed limit reflects that. In states like Indiana, Virginia, etc, a lot of interstates and highways have speed limits of 70 or 75. This is likely because they are flat, straight roads that don't pass through peoples' front yards or zig-zag through mountain ranges.

I am not informed about this gas crisis reference, but I do know that speed limits are now utilized in effort to contain the flow of traffic, especially in residential areas (which cover a vast majority of Vermont). I know a LOT of 40 zones on VT highways that I almost feel should be lowered, but I guess that's what those yellow speed signs are for.

Speed limits aren't a method of controlling you or stealing your money, they are, as Kneuronak said, an effort to keep the roads safe and reduce reckless driving outside peoples' homes and farms. If you don't agree with it, take it up with the state: start a petition to remove speed limits. If you don't want to follow the existing speed limits, deal with the consequences of your actions or move to Germany.

Just please don't put myself, my family or anyone else in VT in unnecessary danger simply out of spite and stubbornness.

I've seen this sentiment before. It misses the point of scientific inquiry. Those things should have been treated with sceptism and incredulity until there was evidence showing it as fact.

A crank is a crank, even if they are right. If you honestly believe something is true, go and find proper evidence. Do the goddamn science.

Also, I mean actual science. You have to make sure that you don't need to throw out centuries of well-understood science just because it doesn't fit your explanation. For example, "earth healing" might have a real, provable explanation that stands up to scrutiny, but you can't ignore general relativity to do it. You can't also explain it with something that is equally "out there".

Contrary to your belief, scientists aren't close-minded. Most scientists (and science-minded individuals) are perfectly willing to believe all sorts of things. The caveat is that you must provide evidence. Further, the statement "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" applies here. I have never seen decent evidence for anything in the vein of thinking you are pushing.

I always see poor articles in unknown or open-access journals. I see "evidence" that requires me to contradict well-understood ideas. I see people ignoring statistical bias and forgetting peer-review. I see accusations of conspiracies that would require literally hundreds of millions of people to be complacent with. I see a "community" that can't even get it's definitions straight, yet suggests that most of what we know about physics, chemistry, biology and medicine is wrong.

Please, I would love to see irrefutable evidence of "crystal healing" or ki. I would love to see evidence proving that my neurological disorders can be cured by meditation. I would love to see evidence that "earth-healing" can cure my partner's dad of Parkinson's, or could have saved my great-uncle from Alzheimer's.

But you won't, and I will have to accept my problems, accept that I will have to support someone I love as their father withers and accept that my uncle lost his most precious gift before being allowed to die. I prefer to live in the real world, which is full of pain and suffering, but is also full of good things.

As normal:

If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be travelling on, now, cause theres too many places Ive got to see.

Slowly, electronic beats start picking up in the background, by the end of this, they are building up in intensity pretty good:

But, if I stayed here with you, girl, Things just couldnt be the same. cause Im as free as a bird now, And this bird you can not change. ohohoohohohoooooh LORD KNOWS, I cant chaaaaaaaaaaaaange.

Now here's where there would be a soulful guitar solo in the real song. Replace that with some electrohouse goodness.

Back to the words, next verse repeats in a similar fashion. Then comes the real guitar solo. House beat throbbing over the massive speakers, Lynyrd Skynyrd's long rolling guitar solo rips the air in two, albeit remixed with electronic sounds to be even more massive.

Sort of like what Glitch Mob recently did with 7 nation army, don't need to go overboard remixing the shit out of it so it's completely unrecognizable, keep the general gist of the song, just make it more danceable and massive.

Seems simple enough when I'm not actually trying to make it. Still, despite it probably being a lot of work, I can see it being an awesome moment for everyone involved...

Interesting! I'm kind of in the opposite camp: really enjoy his older stuff, but he just seems to be getting better with each new video! I actually like that there's less skit stuff -- I wouldn't want a total absence of it, but too much of it is really distracting. That was one of the things that kept me from really enjoying certain episodes of AVGN (e.g. there were a lot of people who enjoyed stuff like the whole "super mecha death Christ" thing, and that's cool, but it just didn't appeal to me). I prefer the ol' G+J: Games and Jokes.

That being said, though, if the jokes aren't to your liking, I can't fault you there. I, for one, think that this video was hilarious from start to finish, but to each his own! And regarding the choice of game (re: "[should have been] a game more people could relate to"), that's actually another thing I like about Jon's videos. I've seen plenty of people talk about Nuts and Bolts or Starfox, but I'd never seen a video on Space Ace or Nightshade, and to me that helps it stand out from being just another video about games (not that videos on more well-known games can't be done well, but I prefer covering new territory

SMB is an okay game, but Team Meat has proven time and time again to be a couple of incredibly arrogant dudes, and obviously it has bitten them in the ass in a major way this time. They should have taken the helpful advice when they had a chance.

The golden rule of trust: "Anyone who says 'trust me' should probably not be trusted."

Seriously, though, I am curious about this. Is the issue that they were storing the login credentials directly to the game, rather than just sending a POST request to a script on a server, and letting it handle logins? I have basic web development knowledge, but not enough to really know exactly what the best way is.

In the past, when I wanted to submit scores for my games' high scores lists, I just had the game send a POST request with username/score/etc. to a PHP script on my server, which then handled submitting the score to my database. Granted, my games are pretty small potatoes at this point, so I never had to worry too much about getting them super-secure, but perhaps someone could post a good tutorial as to the do's and dont's here, for those of us who are not fully web-dev inclined. :)

edit: upon reading through the thread, I see there is already plenty of advice, so thanks guys!

Pengguna zaman moden kini suka membeli belah secara online kerana ia mudah & jimat masa berbanding kalu nk shoping windows... kini hampir rm2bilion setahun

kini ramai yg membeli barang/produk di facebook atau secara online di website contoh seperti Zalora,Mudah.com, Lelong.com, LivingSosial.com, hulala.com, jackcow.com,milkadeal.com, mydeal,Streetdeal ,dealmeet,

myimart.com, dealmates,stardeal, jualmurah,groupon.my macam-macam kedai online ada!!

So yesterday after years of saying "ok aku tunggu the next Ipad", I finally liberated a fistful of RM50 notes and bought an IPad2. Some of you might be wondering why now and why just the iPad2? Let me answer these questions

I bought the iPad2 for the wife because I was getting pissed with her hogging the Galaxy Tab. I use the tab mainly to read news and tweet while in bed. Turns out she love doing the same thing as me while in bed. By the time she's done with her reading the battery on the Galaxy Tab would be om the verge of dying. Buying her an iPad2 is the only way for me to make sure my GalTab will no longer be molested by her. HAHA. The price of a 16GB iPad2 was very tempting lately due to the impending arrival of New iPad on our shored. I might as well get one now while they are still in stock and sold at a very reasonable price.

So why just the iPad2 not the New iPad? Simple answer is "coz the iPad2 is cheaper than a Galaxy Tab 7.7". I can get more screen real estate and at the same time getting myself an IOS device. As the senior writer at AMANZ.MY I think it is imperative that i familiarise myself with devices with different OSes. Also most of the locally made apps are made for IOS. Secondly I have been reading a lot of New iPad reviews and I was not that impressed with the new features. The thing that really killed my interest was the insanely ridiculous charging time of the New iPad. Due to the bigger capacity battery (70% bigger), the normal recharging time for the world's best selling tablet is around 9 hours. This is jus simply unacceptable. I also don't think i need the beyond HD display yet. Last but not least too many reports of warm iPad. We live in Malaysia and the last thing we need is a warm device.

Wajarkah juara treble diperlakukan sebegini rupa?

Babak kedua memberikan sedikit sinar harapan buat mereka apabila kapten fantastik, Piya dimasukkan.

Beberapa hari lalu, aku luangkan masa seketika membaca tentang The Fall of Roman Empire. Kejatuhan Empayar Roma.

Nah, kenapa saya sebut 55 tahun?

Kau mahu hilang kerja, kau mahu hilang masa depan, kau mahu hilang nyawa?”

Biar saya cakap terang-terang di sini, since terang-terang kebanyakan penyokong Barisan Nasional dan Umno ini berbangsa Melayu dan beragama Islam, izinkan saya sebut satu benda; kun fa ya kun. Kalau benda nak jadi, ia jadi. Percaya pada qada’ dan qadar. Hukum alam.

Minorities and special position of Malays
152.- (2) The Government shall exercise its functions in such manner as to recognise the special position of the Malays, who are the indigenous people of Singapore, and accordingly it shall be the responsibility of the Government to protect, safeguard, foster dan promote their political, educational, religious, economic, social and cultural interests and the Malay language

Official languages and national language
(2) The national language shall bi the Malay Language and shall be in the Roman script.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell
and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the
shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to
tell someone!
